CrossFit 43 North is a safe place for people to improve their lives through fitness and nutrition. (I've written about what the means to use here.) But as the gym grows, keeping those high standards gets more and more challenging. So we've been keeping our eyes open for someone that can help us not only maintain how we currently care for our members but raise it to another level.

The first week in May I attended the CrossFit Level 2 Certificate Course. If the Level 1 course is the foundation of fitness the Level 2 course is the foundation of coaching. I was put through several practical exercises with my peers where I had to demonstrate my coaching abilities and was then critiqued by a much more experienced coach. It was nerve-racking, to say the least, but it was also very eye-opening.

Don't Hold Your Breath

Think of the last time you were stressed. Think about how you felt. Most likely you were tense and holding your breath a bit. Maybe you are currently sitting in front of your screen right now, clenched fist, tight jawed. Have you become aware of it? Good. Now take a deep breath and let all that go. Finished? Great, you just took a yoga breath, now let’s move on.

Benefit Fun Run

CrossFit 43 North has partnered with Treasure Valley Runs to sponsor the Treasure Valley Runs Inaugural 5K Fun Run. This event gives the public an opportunity to do something healthy and fun for themselves while helping others. Proceeds from the fun run will be donated to the Valley Women and Children's Shelter in Nampa.

Fixing Weaknesses

Life can leave us with physical imbalances and weaknesses. It's just how it is. We learn to compensate around them but never really fix them. Then one day you decide to "get into shape" and you begin to put a higher demand on those "weaker" parts of your body and things do not go as planned.

Recognizing our differences, celebrating them and being stronger collectively is what makes CrossFit 43 North so great.

Being a member here means that you are part of something bigger than yourself. Other people come to depend on you and you depend on them. It is our shared belief in the importance of having a safe place to journey towards health and fitness that binds us together. Each of us plays a role in making it a safe place for the person next to us and for the person that will decide to join us next week.

This is why we developed our 8-week barbell basics course. Our mission here at CrossFit 43 North is to provide a safe place for people to improve the quality of their lives through fitness and nutrition and we know that not everyone wants to do CrossFit. We want to meet you where you're at on your fitness journey and help you move to the next level

As we start a new calendar year, I’m once again reminded of how we seem to lose our collective mind the first week of January. We’ve all slowed down a little to enjoy the holidays with friends and family. We maybe had a little too much to eat, too much wine, one too many Christmas cookies, and everything goes out the window.
