Every year the Reebok CrossFit Games is held sometime in July. The CrossFit Games is the culmination of a competition designed to find the fittest man and woman on the planet. To give the broadest population the opportunity to prove their fitness they have to cast really large net. This first stage of the competition is called the CrossFit Games Open, and it is held at the end of February and beginning of March each year.
The CrossFit Games Open lasts 5 weeks. A workout is released each Thursday at 5 p.m. PST, and official scores need to be submitted four days later (before 5 p.m. PST Monday). The best of the best will use the CrossFit Games Open to launch themselves into the next stages of the CrossFit Games season. Though for most, the Open is an end in itself. Completing the same workouts as the world's fittest athletes is an accomplishment, as is logging a score for all five weeks.
Each week when a workout is announced, athletes will be given two options: Rx'd and Scaled. With reduced loading or less challenging movements, the scaled option is designed to make the Open even more accessible.
We will be performing the workouts as part of our regular classes (Friday's and Saturday's) when they are announced in March. We encourage everyone to do them as they are a great test of where your level of fitness is currently at.
It's super amazing to see how you stack up against 400,000 other people. Don't worry if you're unsure of yourself and your abilities. So are about 390,000 other competitors. Just do your best and let the chips fall where they may. The official registration for the CrossFit open at http://games.crossfit.com.
There is a $20.00 fee to register for the official entry. This covers some of the overhead of running the competition.
I’d love to see everyone participate, even if you're just a beginner. You'll be surprised at what you're capable of and I can't wait for you to see how awesome you really are.
Now go live better.
