We don’t take ourselves too seriously. Life is too short not to be able to laugh at yourself from time to time. Most anything can be fun when done with people you like. So enjoy yourself and have fun.

Have you ever missed a clean and fallen on your butt? I have.

Have you ever hit yourself in the face with a barbell? I have.

Have you ever ripped out the seat of your pants doing wallballs? I have. Twice.

At each one of these potentially embarrassing moments I had a choice to make. Embrace the fact that it’s funny and enjoy the humor of the moment or get embarrassed and let that embarrassment keep me from having fun and finishing the workout. I chose the former and I remember those times with some fondness.

We’re trying to become the fittest versions of ourselves and we take that training seriously but we don’t have to do so at the expense of our sense of humor. If you take CrossFit too seriously you’ll burn out.

Look for excuses to let your silly out.
