Jeff Cornilles

This month our featured athlete is Jeff Cornilles. I've known Jeff for 3 years now and it's always great to have him at the gym. His warmth and genuine interest in other people is wonderful.

Where do you work? What do you do there? Cornilles Insurance and financial services, Owner and agent. We specialize in employee benefits for small to medium sizes businesses. We also help people with their life, Auto and home owners insurance. We have been in business since 1966 and I have been in the business for 24 years. "Wow"!

I am also a new Realtor with Century 21 Magellan and am having a blast helping people buy and sell property. I was getting so many questions about investing in real estate that I thought I would learn more and ended up getting licensed. I am now working both jobs and more hours then I have in years but am having a lot of fun meeting and helping new people.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Three years

What is your favorite movement?

What has been a favorite workout you've done?
Believe it or not "FRAN" cough and all. (Fran is 21-15-9 of Thrusters and Pullups)

What movement do you hate?
Overhead squats..........

What workout have you hated most?
RJ was the longest most grueling. (RJ is 5 Rounds of 800m Run, 5 Rope climps, and 50 Push-ups)

Why did you choose to start CrossFit?
I chose crossfit because I get bored with workouts after a few weeks or months and will find something better to do like eat. I also like to challenge myself and the feeling of being in shape which enables me to do more things that I enjoy like ski, scuba dive, backpack, hike, hunt and fish.

I also like being pushed by classmates and a good trainer. I am one of those people to needs a good kick in the butt sometimes to get me over myself and an "Atta boy" when I do it.

If someone asked you "What is CrossFit," what would you say?
An awesome way to get in and stay in shape for normal everyday life. It combines simple movements like walking, running, situps, pushups with weights and does it all under highly trained and a highly supervised environment. Most good trainers like Clayton can even help you with nutrition.
