Anne VanderVeen

We met Anne at the Nampa School District benefits fair. She joined a month later and has been kicking butt ever since. Our program is perfect for her. Anne had never spent any time in the gym before and our structured training program has her seeing progress day after day. Anne is amazing and we're so glad she's a part of our fitness family.

Where do you work? What do you do there?

I teach math at Nampa High School.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I've been doing CrossFit for 2 months.

What is your favorite or best movement?

I can't think of any movement that is my favorite. They are all work!!

What has been your favorite workout?

My favorite workout was the day we just did barbell lifts. I never got breathing hard.

What movement do you struggle with?

My biggest struggle is doing pushups. They are impossible!!

What workout have you struggled the most physically?

As mentioned before, I physically cannot do a pushup.

What workout have you struggled the most mentally?

Trying to figure out a barbell lift that seems to have so many steps. Lift to above the knees, shrug shoulders, lift to shoulders, elbows forward, squat, jump, press up, move head back out of way, arms straight up, lock arms. WHAT????

Why did you decide to start CrossFit?

I wanted to get stronger. I realized I was getting so weak as I got older and losing muscle. I also was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and the pills I have to take now cause loss of bone. I want to strengthen my bones and have heard exercise helps strengthen bones.

What is CrossFit to you?

Crossfit makes me feel good. Not while I am doing it!! I feel like there is no way I can do this during the workouts but later I am glad I did. It makes my body feel stronger.
